About Four Shore
My name is Matt Thornton and I have many years' experience in writing and editing. I was born in England and English is my first language. At school, I studied English to A-Level*. I am an associate of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders and I am currently studying for the accreditation exam. I am also an affiliate of the IEEE Professional Communication Society, a society dedicated to understanding and promoting effective communication in engineering, scientific, and other technical environments, forming part of my technical writing expertise.I have experience in many different areas (detailed briefly below) and each section of this website describes the ways in which I am able to assist with your writing. My primary strength is the ability to recognise different styles and types of writing and adjust the editing process accordingly. I have extensive research skills and use all available resources to ensure the accuracy of your writing and my editing.
I attended the University of Southampton, where I received my first degree (BA Hons Geography) and my PhD. The subject of my PhD was remote sensing and my thesis was entitled "Super-resolution mapping of linear land cover features from high-resolution remotely sensed imagery." I have published papers in the International Journal of Remote Sensing (IJRS), Remote Sensing of Environment (RSE) and IEEE Computers and Geosciences (IEEECG). I have peer-reviewed multiple articles for IJRS, RSE and IEEECG and presented at many international conferences, including IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, RSPSOC and Geostats.
I have written and edited website design specifications and contracts, job applications, curriculum vitaes, technical documentation and online and offline advertisements.
I have created and published many online articles, such as my own travel blog and I created and wrote for a cricket blog for approximately 18 months. I have published web-related articles with Sitepoint. I am currently writing my first fictional novel.
